People say that being absorbed into
online activities is a waste of time. People say that digital detox is the
answer to get better life. People say that staying connected to online exposure
is way too much, and it needs to be ceased. People exemplify the fact European people
begin to leave sophisticated gadgets behind, signaling the trend of a habit of
getting back to “normal” life. It might be true, for some reason, that we need
to get digital detox. But, how if we stay productive, improved, growing, flourishing
through being engrossed into digital activities?
In such a rapidly growing era of informational
technology, we benefit from the ubiquity of learning resources. It used to be
tough to get access to learn things. However, we are in the era of accessing
everything as simply as using our finger tips, tapping them on a small screen. Using
fingers tips, we can obtain real-time information, knowledge, and cutting-edge
method of dealing with something.
Therefore, I myself disagree that we
should lessen digital absorption in my daily life. Apart from the fact that it
has been today’s lifestyle, it is still the most effective way I settle many
things done. When I can have my food come through using a gadget while I am
busy with activities, why should I bother going somewhere far away merely to
grab something to eat? When I can access online courses to master new skills,
why should I bother to find face-to-face tutor for those skills? When I can
read book online and I feel comfortable with that, why should I go to bookstore
every time I want to read books? When I can write my diary and essential notes
about life on a word page, why should I rely on papers?
It is good to get back to nature, to
some degree, like walking to restaurant to get exercise, instead of laying down
on the bed, or to see our neighbor directly so that we have social bond,
instead of always talking to the online. Nonetheless, there are some reasons staying
engaged into online activities is the best thing to do. I feel productive being
online accessor. I acquire new skills, learn new science, and adopt new methods
of dealing with daily life challenges.
Taking digital detox may be good for
some people for some reason, but staying away from digital things for most of
the time in my daily life is not my cup of tea. I have reason to stay engaged
into digital activities, at least for the time being. I would not have my
communication skill improved, digital skills enhanced, and problem-solving
ability leapfrogged if I did not stay connected to digital access.
